For the second time this year, the Health Care Professionals team within Cheshire SAR ran our specialist Rescue, Trauma and Casualty Care first aid course.
A requirement for all new members, and for long term members to renew every three years, the course covers the skills and knowledge needed to manage a casualty in typical SAR scenarios, but with a few challenges thrown in along the way.
With a mixture of classroom sessions, skill stations, scenarios with real people and very realistic make up, plus a written exam, the course does stretch members. But the delivery ensures that as confidence grows, the challenges increase so that candidates leave the course with solid knowledge and embedded skills.
We would like to thank all of the team HCPs for giving up their time to put on the course, the ATACC Group and particularly our Medicial Director, Dr Mark Forrest, for allowing us to continue offering a superior level of training to our members, and of course all of the 15 team members who passed the course. Congratulations to you all.
Note: The images used for this article show some of the scenarios and make up used for the course. None of the injuries are real and no team members were damaged during the course!
