Cave Rescue Familiarisation

Summer Update

As a team, we stop our Tuesday night training sessions in August to give members a rest and because many take advantage of the school holidays to go away with their families.

But team activities continued relentlessly with a total of 10 days of call outs through the month and some members taking up the opportunity to join our colleagues in Cave Rescue to find out more about their work.

This was a great chance for members to experience a different kind of service and go underground to explore a cave network. It certainly gave an insight into the unique challenges faced by Cave Rescue and ideas for how we can support each other.

In addition to this we supported all four VPX events around Warrington, Widnes and Runcorn, attended national meetings, ran navigation training and attended Defuse training to advance our ability to manage team member welfare.

So, considering that August is our ‘quiet’ month, it’s been pretty busy! Autumn training starts this week and there’s plenty of interesting sessions planned for the rest of the year.
