Help us to rescue you

Cheshire Search and Rescue team is a registered charity and receives no government funding whatsoever. All of the members are volunteers and receive no pay or expenses and members even pay monthly subs towards the running costs. Members receive a Keela Search and Rescue jacket, fleece and T-shirt once they have completed their probationary period but supply the rest of their personal kit themselves.

Members are all volunteers and when they are not being called out or training they take part in a variety of fundraising activities such as bag packing, collections and providing medical rescue cover for events that have difficult access.

The specialist equipment that we use has been bought with money raised with the fantastic support from the residents and businesses of Cheshire and beyond. Sometimes specific items have been bought and donated to the team.

It is vital that we have the kit that we are trained to use and without it, we would arguably be a Search but not Rescue team. There would be limited benefit from us searching for a missing walker in Delamere Forest who has suffered a heart attack if we cannot treat them with Oxygen from our BTACC medical bag (cost £1000), have a defibrillator on standby (cost £2000) and transport them to an ambulance at the nearest accessible road in a basket stretcher (cost £2400), casualty bag (cost £500) and 4x4 ambulance (cost £45,000).

It costs £50 per day just to run the team and the specialist equipment that we use needs replacing periodically when it comes to the end of its serviceable life. There are many ways of helping the team to operate and fund essential equipment such as supporting one of our fundraising initiatives or by sponsoring a specific item on our wish list.

If you would like to support the work that we do you can help in the following ways;

1. Make a one-off donation

To make a straightforward donation, you can send a cheque, made payable to Cheshire Search and Rescue to 4 and 5 Rex Building, Alderley Road, Wilmslow, SK9 1HY.

Or to make a transfer, use the Sort Code 01-09-17 and Account Number 58558691. But make sure you email us here so that we can track your donation and say thank you!

3. Just Text Giving

The minimum amount per donation is £1 and the maximum is £10. Donations can only be in the amount of £1, £2, £3, £4, £5, and £10.

Please click here on a mobile device to open your SMS text sending application and enter the amount you wish to donate.

4. Give as you Live

If you enjoy shopping online, you may have already seen that certain retailers support the Give as you Live scheme. This means that when you buy online, the company will make a donation to the charity of your choice. It doesn’t affect the price of the goods, and while it's normally just a few pence, that few pence can soon add up to a significant amount. There are some major retailers involved and once you're signed up, the websites you visit will prompt you to switch on the system, and it’s as simple as that.

5. Payroll Giving

If your employer supports Payroll Giving, you could sign up to make a small donation every month. And because it's taken pre-tax, it costs you less – for instance a £5 donation to Cheshire SAR only costs you £4. Some of our members use Payroll Giving and even £1 per month will make a huge difference to the team. Just follow this link to find out more. http://www.payrollgiving.co.uk
