Saturday saw the team return to the River Lune in Kirkby Lonsdale for another DEFRA recognised Flood Responders course. In total there were seventeen trainees consisting of a mixture of "newbies" and more experienced team members keeping their training up to date. We were also pleased to welcome two of our colleagues from Bolton MRT and our external assessor Kevin Garvey from Rossendale and Pendle MRT.
The course was lead by CSAR's Swift Water Rescue Technicians (with not insignificant help from Kevin) and, often watched by the passing holiday makers, covered wading techniques, throwlines, self rescue and raft work. Once ratified by ALSAR, the trainees will be qualified to work anywhere in the country where needed.
